Classes of 2020 and 2021 In-Person Commencement
May 22, 2022
Penn’s undergraduate Class of 2020 and graduate and professional Class of 2021 returned to campus to make up for their delayed in-person Commencement ceremonies. Covid pandemic restrictions necessitated on-line Commencement ceremonies at the customary time of these two classes’ graduation milestones. This week’s in-person celebration at Franklin Field allowed these recent graduates to experience the full splendor of graduation alongside their classmates, together with their families and loved-ones. The Commencement speaker was Angela Duckworth, the Rosa Lee and Egbert Change Professor of Psychology in Penn’s School of Arts & Sciences. More than 12,000 guests were in attendance at the ceremony led by Interim President Wendell Pritchett, Interim Provost Beth A. Winkelstein, Chair of the Board of Trustees Scott Bok, and other University leaders.
